The project

A self-hosted Supabase setup deployed on the company's own server, used as the backend for internal tools and apps. Running it in-house keeps the data on company infrastructure and avoids the usage limits and costs of the hosted plan.

What it provides:

  • A managed PostgreSQL database with a table editor, SQL editor, and schema visualizer
  • Authentication, file storage, edge functions, and realtime subscriptions
  • Auto-generated REST APIs and client library access for connected apps
  • The full Supabase Studio dashboard for managing data, policies, and roles

Notable features:

  • Deployed as a containerized stack on a private server, behind its own domain
  • Configuration managed through environment variables instead of the cloud dashboard
  • Row-level security policies and roles for access control
  • Built-in advisor checks for security, performance, and database health
